How it works
A table, not a wall of text
CSV stores a table as plain text with fields separated by a delimiter. A quoted field can contain a comma, an escaped quote or a line break, so one record can span several lines. The viewer reads those fields together instead of treating every line as a separate row.
This viewer detects common CSV delimiters, keeps quoted content together, gives ambiguous headers stable labels, and pads uneven rows into a consistent table. Your source header text is retained when you save your edits.

Check quoted fields and leading zeros
The parser edge-case CSV contains three records and four columns. It includes identifiers with leading zeros, a comma inside a quoted field, escaped quotes, Unicode and a field containing a line break. Download it and choose the file above to check how those values appear in a table.
Find its original text and column guide among the documented sample CSV files. Count records rather than physical lines, and keep identifier values as text when importing into another application.
- The result has three data records and four columns, excluding the header.
00123keeps its leading zeros. Its label isTray, small, with the comma inside one cell.00007has a note containingLine oneandLine twoin the same cell, separated by a line break.00900has the label東京and an empty note. An empty field does not remove its column.
Choose your output
Inspect a view or save a changed table
Sorting and filtering in the viewer change what you see. Downloading the complete document retains every record, including records hidden by a filter. Use Filter CSV when you need a downloaded file containing only matching records, or Sort CSV to save a chosen row order.
The CSV editor uses the same table workspace for changing cell values. If an import looks wrong, validate the CSV to check its original syntax and any column rules you set.
Plain answers
CSV viewer questions
How do I open a CSV file?+
Choose a local CSV or TSV file, paste CSV text, or open the sample. Rows appear as parsing progresses, then the virtualized table lets you inspect the complete imported file.
How do I work with a larger file?+
The editor parses in a worker and stores row pages in browser storage while showing only the visible rows and columns. Browser storage is temporary working space, not a backup: download a copy before closing the editor. Choose a local file rather than pasting larger input, and check the limits below.
What is the CSV file-size limit?+
Selected files have an upper limit of 1 GiB, 5 million data records and 2,000 columns. Available browser storage can impose a lower limit. Very wide records, oversized fields and the 100,000 stored-page cap can also stop import before those limits. Decoded fields are limited to 8 MiB and decoded records to 16 MiB; stored and displayed row pages must also fit their 16 MiB encoded-page limit. Pasted CSV text is limited to 50 MiB. For larger input, choose a local file instead. Converters and other task tools have their own processing limits; opening a file does not guarantee every tool can process it.
Can I sort and filter CSV rows?+
Yes. Filter any column, then select a column heading to sort ascending or descending. The row counter shows how many rows remain in the active view.
Can I download edited CSV data?+
Save as downloads a copy of the complete table, including your edits. Filters and sorting change the view; they do not remove rows from the saved file.
Can I merge files or convert CSV here?+
Yes. Dedicated tools merge CSV files or convert CSV to JSON, TSV, Excel, and Parquet. Use the viewer to inspect the source first, then choose the tool for your output.
