How it works
A table, not a wall of text
CSV stores a table as plain text: each record is a line and each field is separated by a delimiter. Quoted fields can contain commas, quotes, and line breaks, which makes raw files difficult to inspect safely in a text editor.
This viewer detects common CSV delimiters, keeps quoted content together, gives ambiguous headers stable labels, and pads uneven rows into a consistent table. Your source header text is retained when you save your edits.
Plain answers
CSV viewer questions
How do I open a CSV file?+
Choose a local CSV or TSV file, paste CSV text, or open the sample. Rows appear as parsing progresses, then the virtualized table lets you inspect the complete imported file.
How do I work with a larger file?+
The editor parses in a worker and stores row pages in browser storage while showing only the visible rows and columns. Browser storage is temporary working space, not a backup: download a copy before closing the editor. For a separate uploaded workflow, Analyze with SQL accepts CSV and Parquet files up to 5 GiB in a private leased Loam Namespace.
What is the CSV file-size limit?+
Selected files have an upper limit of 1 GiB, 5 million data records and 2,000 columns. Available browser storage can impose a lower limit. Very wide records, oversized fields and the 100,000 stored-page cap can also stop import before those limits. Decoded fields are limited to 8 MiB and decoded records to 16 MiB; stored and displayed row pages must also fit their 16 MiB encoded-page limit. Pasted CSV text is limited to 50 MiB. For larger input, choose a local file instead. Converters and other task tools have their own processing limits; opening a file does not guarantee every tool can process it.
Can I sort and filter CSV rows?+
Yes. Filter any column, then select a column heading to sort ascending or descending. The row counter shows how many rows remain in the active view.
Can I download edited CSV data?+
Save as downloads a copy of the complete table, including your edits. Filters and sorting change the view; they do not remove rows from the saved file.
Can I merge files or convert CSV here?+
Yes. Dedicated tools merge CSV files or convert CSV to JSON, TSV, Excel, and Parquet. Analyze with SQL can add multiple CSV or Parquet tables and join them with SELECT SQL.
