Three simple steps
A table for your next README.
Skip the manual pipes and separator rows. Turn your existing CSV into a table you can use in documentation.
- 01
Bring your data
Upload a CSV, paste its contents or try the sample. Your first row becomes the table header.
- 02
Make it yours
Compare the source with the rendered table. Choose alignment, or edit the CSV before you export.
- 03
Put it to work
Copy the Markdown into a README or documentation editor, or save a ready-to-use .md file.
CSV → Markdown → table
Small input. Ready-to-paste output.
The header and alignment row are generated for you. Here is a complete example using the same converter as your download.

Plain answers
Markdown conversion questions
Can I use the table in a GitHub README?+
Yes. The output uses pipe tables and an alignment row supported by GitHub Flavored Markdown. Paste the copied output into a README.md or another editor that supports Markdown tables. Plain CommonMark does not define tables, so check your destination's renderer.
How are commas, pipes and line breaks handled?+
Quoted CSV commas stay within their original cell. Literal pipes become | so they do not create extra columns. Cell line breaks become <br>, and Markdown punctuation is encoded to keep it as cell text. Your destination must support inline HTML to display those line breaks.
Does the first CSV row become the table header?+
Yes. The first record supplies the column headings. Blank or duplicate headings receive stable display names. If your CSV has no header row, add column names with Edit CSV before exporting.
Can I align columns or edit values before downloading?+
Choose left, center or right alignment in Output settings; the selection applies to every column. Use Edit CSV to change the source in the existing editor, then Return to converter. You keep the same document and do not need to upload it again.
Are identifiers and leading zeroes preserved?+
Cells are treated as text rather than guessed numbers or dates, so values such as 00123 stay intact in the output. Markdown renderers can normalize whitespace around cell content; use a CSV download when exact CSV formatting is important.
Is conversion free, and is my CSV uploaded?+
This conversion runs locally in your browser without signup or payment. Upload a CSV up to 50 MB, paste text or use the fictional sample. Preview limits keep the page responsive; the download contains the complete table within the tool's processing limits. Choosing a separate Loam-backed workflow is outside this local conversion.
