From file to saved copy
CSV stores text values, so an identifier such as 00123 can stay text instead of becoming the number 123. A quoted value can contain a comma or a line break. Use a documented CSV sample to check your workflow before opening a large or important file.
The desktop apps work with local files. Store downloads require internet access; diagnostic and support handling is explained in the privacy policy.
Choose the right workflow
The online viewer lets you begin with no installation. Browser storage and per-tool limits apply. The browser editor explains its current save and file-size limits.
A desktop app is another way to open and save local CSV files. Check the current store listing and try a representative file: available tools and practical capacity depend on your device and installed release. Desktop installation does not automatically add tools advertised for a different host.
If a file does not open or saving fails, keep any unsaved work available and use CSV File Tools support. Include the platform, app version, action and non-sensitive error text; private file contents are not needed.
Plain answers
Launch CSV Editor, choose Open and select a local .csv file. Start with a copy of your original. Inspect the table, make a small change and use Save As to save a separate file. Reopen the saved copy to check it before replacing the original. Store installation and updates are managed by your device's store.
Opening from inside the app is the common starting point. Windows can register an Open with association after installation; choose the app in Windows Default Apps. On Mac, open the file from inside CSV Editor. File associations and other capabilities depend on your installed version.
Practical capacity depends on file shape, available memory, local storage and the installed version. Very wide records and long fields can reach individual operation limits even when a file's total size looks small. Keep the original and try a representative file before choosing a desktop workflow. The browser viewer, browser extensions and desktop apps have different limits; installing an app does not change the browser's limits.
They provide ways to work with CSV files, but available tools, file access, save behavior and limits vary by platform and released version. Check the installed app and its store description for supported features. Use the tools available in your installed release.
